Muddy Buddy Time Trial (7km loop)

When the pandemic hit we shelved our races for the year as we weren't sure  how to make them happen safely.  After many discussions we decided on this time trial format to allow racers to do it with their bubble of friends while maintaining social distancing with others.  This allows us to offer an actual chip time on a shared course over 9 days. You get to decide when your race starts!

We're calling this the Muddy Buddy Time Trial.  Partly as a shout-out to the wonderful Muddy York Brewery who are hosting the start and finish box and also because there is definitely some mud out there!  We also hope if you see your fellow racers you greet them with a nice "Muddy Buddy" cheer.

The recommended race map has been published, but make sure to follow us on Instagram and join our Strava Community for real time updates!

Here are some details:

  • Race kit pickup will be at Muddy York on August 15th, 16th, 22nd & 23rd between 9 AM until 3 PM.  Each bib has a timing chip, which racers will use to "tap in" to start and finish their 7 km loop(s).

  • Racers must carry a cell phone with them during their run.  If you see
wild life during your loop, snap a photo! Best snap of wild life earns
free entry to a future UTR event.  Tag our instagram (@Urbantrailracingtoronto) or #muddybuddy7km

  • We will have prize draws each weekend and throughout the week.  And stickers for those doing a Boston Qualifier (6 loops).  BA may not count it, but you count to us!

  • If racers will be on course after 7 pm, a headlamp is required.  Some
single track sections of this course are very narrow and will get dark
    early.
  • This is not a closed course and marking is limited.  Watch for cars and other traffic. The trails are also open to other users and wildlife.  Please be respectful and safe when passing and interacting with others.

Lastly, there is a reason this is called the muddy buddy.  Have fun and don't forget the social part of social distancing.  Cheer people on that you see out there.  Sign up with your own muddy buddy!
